JOHN

Discovering the extraordinary in the ordinary
JOHN is an eerie and spellbinding play following Elias and Jenny, a young couple from Brooklyn, who check into an historic bed and breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. A dwelling decorated with hundreds of strange inanimate ornaments and knickknacks, operated by the eccentric septuagenarian Mertis and her blind friend, Genevieve. As their stay continues, strange and uncanny occurrences begin to take place, unearthing past trauma, paranoia, and a vast, cosmic underworld of fear and madness. Annie Baker’s gentle script approaches her quartet of characters with a sense of radical empathy and theatrical magic that will leave you breathless.
