Dogfight

Dogfight by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul

8 March – 23 March 2019

Before creating Golden Globe-winning The Greatest Showman, the Tony-winning sensation Dear Evan Hansen and even before the Oscar-winning La La Land, composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote Dogfight, a heartbreaking and yet beautiful musical. Dogfight is based on the 1991 film of the same name, about a group of young US marines on their last night on the town in San Francisco in 1963 before being shipped out to Vietnam.

Eddie, a US marine, meets Rose, a shy awkward innocent waitress, under less than inauspicious circumstances – as part of the Dogfight – and an awkward love story starts to unfold. Dogfight is a charming yet gritty show taking us on an emotional journey depicting the blissful ignorance, brashness and seeming invincibility of youth, the compassion, kindness and love in the face of cruelty, and the ability to find true inner strength and acceptance despite the brutality of life and war.
