The Sea by Edward Bond
Set in 1907 during the Edwardian era, it takes place in an isolated seaside village. Opening with a storm much like The Tempest it quickly deviates from the Bard’s work. A cast of 14 players brings this microcosm to life.
Willy survives the storm but his best friend drowns. The draper and part time coast guard refused to help save Colin, believing that Willy is an alien that killed Colin. The eccentric Mrs Rafi, the echelon of class and the role role model to many villagers, has her own idea of justice when she learns of neglected duties.
Lovers of live theatre will appreciate this quirky comedy.
